Marriott’s recently-launched Courtyard Hotel, located off a wide, generally quieter spot in Bangkok’s downtown Rajprasong district, offers an ideal alternative for business travelers due to the functionality of its utilities and range of services aimed at both business and pleasure.

The four-star property, which has 318 rooms on 15 floors, offers a comfy “home office” environment. It also boasts two large, luxury suites on the top floor.
The bright and spacious lobby, and contemporary design features are striking, featuring purple, red, white, and yellow. A similar style extends to the guest rooms and dining area. The construction and design of the property suggest a sense of dynamism and modernity.
Guest rooms provide business travelers with all the facilities necessary, such as high-speed, broadband connectivity, to do business in their rooms. Bangkok Courtyard Hotel boasts more luxurious and sophisticated décor and services than similar Courtyard properties in the US, according to some guests. The hotel’s general manager, Nicolas Tse, suggests this might be due to the more rigorous demands of
the Asian market.
“This is the first Courtyard in Thailand and will serve as a prototype for more properties to be opened elsewhere in the Asia and the Pacific region,” he said. “The Hong Kong Courtyard will be the first.”
The hotel provides plenty of options when it comes to holding events. Near a high-ceilinged lobby area are the Courtyard’s two main function rooms, providing a total area of 390 square meters. If required, this area can be sub-divided into five meeting rooms able to accommodate 50 delegates or guests for smaller-scale seminars or workshops. The conference and banquet areas are also ideal for less formal gatherings, such as engagement or wedding parties, and other social events.

R&R
Guests at the Courtyard can treat themselves to some physical and mental rest and relaxation by resting on the lush lobby couches, enjoy a swim or workout at the fitness center on the Mezzanine floor, or even book a massage or other form of treatment.
Guests looking for a tasty meal or refreshing drink can pop down to the Momo Café, a slick, modern dining area that can accommodate 154 people. As well as boasting Thai and international a la carte dishes, early risers can get a buffet breakfast from 6 am, and there are indoor and outdoor al fresco seating options available.
This writer felt the Thai food lacked authenticity, although it is to be expected in some ways since the majority of its clientele is international.
More adventurous guests can always explore other local restaurants or opt for a bout of “retail therapy” at nearby shopping malls.
And so while visitors to Bangkok can now enjoy a comfortable stay at The Courtyard, they will soon be able to enjoy new properties set to open later this year.
Phuket will host Courtyard Hotels at the popular beaches of Kamala,
Pat ong, and Surin, while another is scheduled to open in Cha-am in Prachuap Khiri Khan province.
Room rates at the Courtyard start at 3,800 baht (about US$6,000) per night, rising to 5,000 baht. For further information, contact Tel: +66 (0)2 690 1899, or visit the hotel’s website at www.courtyard.com/bkkcy
