Protesters slam Democrats for ‘backing’ PAD About 200 residents from Klong Toey held a rally in front of the Democrat party’s headquarters on Monday, claiming the party is actively supporting the protests staged by the People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD), and demanding it refrain from doing so. The group arrived at about 10.30 am in four minibuses and several vans. They raised banners attacking the Democrat party and the PAD’s rally. Among the messages displayed on banners were ‘Abhisit: Stop Lying!’, and ‘Stop Supporting PAD’. The group claimed the Democrat party is destroying the system of democracy by allowing one of its members to act as a PAD leader. The protesters were referring to Somkiat Pongpaiboon, a PAD leader who is also a party list Democrat MP. The group also warned other members of the Democrat party not to participate in rallies organized by the PAD.
