Abhisit: Govt ‘should be open to suggestions’abhisithead.jpg

Abhisit Vejjajiva, leader of the Democrat party, said the government would “soon be in trouble”, if it continued to reject people’s suggestions. His comments came soon after Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej publicly rejected advice offered up by prominent scholar Prawase Wasi.

Prawase last week suggested four former prime minister act as mediators between the government and the People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) in order to defuse the current political conflict.

The ex-premiers Prawase referred to were: Anand Panyarachun; Banharn Silpa-archa; Chavalit Yongchaiyudh; and Chuan Leekpai.

Abhisit said many people had been offering the government possible solutions to the political crisis since they wished peace to be restored. He said the government should be more “open minded” and stop doubting other people’s suggestions and intentions.

He said many people were of the opinion that the government should give greater priority to the people’s well-being rather than focusing on other issues. It was up to the government to prove them wrong, he said.

Abhisit said that should the people believe that the government is neglecting their feelings and their problems, it would soon find itself in a very precarious position. – Manager Online.
