Cabinet to decide on need for ISA next week
Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva said that Defense Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan ha d been assigned with taking care of the domestic security situation during his planned visit to the United States, according to a National News Bureau report.
Abhisit said the relevant security-related bodies would evaluate the situation ahead of a rally planned by the anti-government United Front for Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD) on September 19 to coincide with the third anniversary of the military coup that ousted former premier Thaksin Shinawatra in 2006. The relevant officials would report their findings to the cabinet on September 15, according to the report.
The cabinet would decide whether or not to turn to the Internal Security Act (ISA) based on the evaluation made by security officials, Abhisit said. – National News Bureau.
