Advisory team fails to impress TDRI
Somchai Jitsuchon, research director at the Thailand Development Research Institute (TDRI), commented publicly on Monday on the establishment of a cabinet subcommittee overseeing economic matters, which was proposed by the government's new economic advisory team and approved by Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej.
Somchai said that the economic advisory team seems to have a very important role in the current administration since several ministers overseeing the economy were seen as lacking in expertise in this area.
He said he believed that government policy and decision-making regarding the economy would be strongly influenced by the advice offered by the advisory team, which is led by former finance minister Veerapong Ramangkul.
