‘Face by Thermage’, a technique carried out without surgery or injections and which doesn’t involve a time-consuming recovery period, has proven to be one of Thaniya Medical Clinic’s most popular skin rejuvenation treatments over the past three to four years.
Sujittra Napathorn, a dermatologist and co-founder of Thaniya Medical Clinic, says the Face by Thermage technique has proven to be one of the most effective techniques among patients seeking non-surgical rejuvenation of facial skin.
It’s said that the procedure can lift skin, soften facial wrinkles, and define contours. Unlike other invasive techniques, Face by Thermage does not require significant recovery periods.
“The most outstanding advantage [of the technique] is the natural look achieved after treatment,” says Sujittra, who has been employed in beautification treatment services for more than 20 years.
Sujittra earned a diploma in dermatology from the University of London. She also practices as an internist with specialization in internal medicine.
Sujittra says the technique involves using monopolar capacitive radiofrequency (CRF) technology. Radiofrequency energy is part of the electromagnetic spectrum. The technique was developed in the US and has been used in medical rejuvenation for more than five years.
Sujittra said unlike laser procedures, which require a series of treatments, Face by Thermage can be applied during a single visit to Thaniya Medical Clinic.
Pat ients can then quickly return to their regular daily routines, she said.

The procedure may take as little as 20 minutes or up to two hours depending on the size of the area to be treated.
If comparing the treatment with other non-invasive rejuvenating techniques, such as laser treatment, the radiofrequency technique is certainly more expensive and can be somewhat more painful, Sujittra says.
“But this technique is much more effective.
Pat ients get what they pay for, and most patients are satisfied with the results,” she says.
According to Sujittra, no special care is required following a treatment and most patients are able to return to their regular daily activities as soon as they feel ready.
Possible side effects are swelling, blisters, and bumps, Sujittra said, although a US-based website suggests that with an estimated 450,000 treatments to date worldwide, the reported incidence of side effects is less than 2%.

The technique is designed to deliver heat deep into the skin to tighten existing collagen and stimulate new collagen growth. Collagen is the building block that provides the skin’s structure. The technique is supposed to work through all three layers of the skin: the epidermis; dermis; and subcutaneous or fat layer.
The magnitude of visible improvement varies from subtle to dramatic. Generally, some improvement is immediately visible and continues to last for up to six months as new collagen forms within the skin. Overall, results can last for at least two years, depending on the condition of the skin and the aging process.
Sujittra says the technique attracts women and men as young as 35. Both locals and foreigners, specifically visiting the kingdom for beautification treatments, are booking up for a session, according to Sujittra.
“Within the next five years, beautifying and rejuvenating services will become the highlight of medical tourism,” Sujittra says. “And the radiofrequency technique will play a significant role in attracting more tourists.”

Sujittra says many patients consider a Face by Thermage session as a form of ‘treat’ rather than a treatment.
“Right now people are paying greater concern to their health and appearance. To improve your look and appear younger, both inside and out, it’s a valuable gift you can give yourself,” she said.
Thaniya Medical Clinic has been offering Face by Thermage treatment for about four years, while it has been widely available at clinics overseas for about five years. The Face by Thermage treatment is fully approved by the Thai Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Thaniya Medical Clinic is located on the fourth floor of the Thaniya Plaza Building in Silom Road. The clinic opens Monday through Saturday from 9 am to 7 pm and is closed on Sundays.
